Decks and pergolas are great additions to any home, both for aesthetic purposes as well as functionality. Decks provide a place to enjoy the outdoors while still being protected from the sun and rain. Pergolas can be used in many ways such as decks or patios, but they also provide a shady space that is perfect for entertaining guests during those hot summer months. Great Add-ons to Your Home

Decks and pergolas are great additions to any home, both for aesthetic purposes as well as functionality. Decks provide a place to enjoy the outdoors while still being protected from the sun and rain. Pergolas can be used in many ways such as decks or patios but they also provide a shady space that is perfect for entertaining guests during those hot summer months. In this article, we will explore decks and pergolas, their benefits, how much you should plan on spending on them, and more!

How much should decks cost? How long will it take to build?

For decks and pergolas, it takes about two weeks for decks but this is just an estimate. Decks can vary depending on their size, materials, and location; however, a safe bet would be to budget around $15-$25/sq ft. This price includes materials like lumber (for framing), fasteners (nails, screws, etc.), deck finishes (stain, sealant, or paint). It also takes about two days per 100 sq ft of decking to install the joists and footings as well as set up all support posts & beams in addition larger decks may require more work such as stairs or handrails which could extra time onto how long will take to build a deck. decks are often installed on top of the existing ground that may already have a concrete slab. If this is not present, be sure to budget for excavation services as well as any necessary permits and inspections before you start building your deck

Decks can vary in size depending on their purpose or simply how much land you have but decks around 12x12ft are good starter decks. With these dimensions, you should plan to pay about $15/sq ft although again larger decks will cost more per square foot due to increased materials costs. For example, one mid-sized 16 x 20 feet deck with two built-in benches could run upwards of $4000 if it includes custom features such as built-ins & lighting. All living spaces contain some degree of stress and decks are no different.

Depending on what you want out of your new outdoor living area there are four main types of decks: wood decks, composite decks, vinyl decks & aluminum decks. Wood is beautiful but requires maintenance like sanding every few years which in some climates is necessary more often than that. Composite is still relatively new compared to other options so it’s not as common yet but has plenty of advantages including low cost & less need for regular upkeep.
